Finally after a seemingly long time of listening to in rainbows, I will of-course mark that with the masterpiece title it deserves. After reciting there older albums or even Hail to the Thief I realized that Radiohead is the best band ever, just because of when they came out however they seemed to be cursed and will no where in the near future get that title but I'm handing it to them now. From Pablo Honey to In Rainbows they never fail to amaze me with one great song after another. Also they take plenty risks and don't play the safe card every album, they take huge chances and experiment and do it better then any other band
I agree with many of your points, but have to disagree with the " Best Band Ever" ! Yes most of their albums are great, some totally sick, some just very good, but you can say the same for so many bands, STONES, BEATLES,U2,WHO,THE BAND. ALLMAN BROTHERS, STEELY DAN, etc etc. Also they do take chances, but so did BOWIE,QUEEN,MOTT THE HOOPLE, SANTANA, etc I'll give them even huge props for releasing their last albumto the masses with a" pay what you want" approach, but other bands have also tried gimmicks like that Pearl Jam with doing their own tickets and bootlegs, Beatles started their own music company APPLE MUSIC, and of course the DEAD always did it with letting their fans record all their music with no impunity, RADIOHEAD is a GREAT band..But in the Pantheon of my music I would put them at 25 +.
first of all "all" of their albums are gold. Secondly Mott The Hoople doesn't have half the talent as radiohead, they took other peoples songs and added their own touch but didn't come close to producing 7 classics, Santana didn't really take risks, they just played what they were comfortable with, combining latin music with classic rock and jazz, I might have to hand it to you that David Bowie beats Radiohead, but that might be just about it. Plus I'm not saying they're a great bands because of their gimmick tactics with sales, I'm saying they are a great band because in a time were people thought that nothing consecutively creative and original could come out, Radiohead showed up to stay, for seven masterpieces and they may even bless us with hopefully seven more. Ofcourse it's a big no no to say they have more potential than the beatles, and ofcourse they will never change society the way the beatles did, but they are in a different generation where nearly everything has already been done, but they do have seven incredible albums where song for song is perfect, they do have a great stage presence they surprised everyone with how to feel about new music and they are still going strong, they rock, they are atmospheric, they are creative and they ready for more, long live radiohead
